Transformative Higher Education Teaching and Learning
Globalization and the rapid growth of information technology drive the world into a very dynamic society. Change is one of the salient aspects that every sector in our world community has to cope with. To keep up with the pace of change, higher education institutes need to educate their students to be able to manage these changes wisely. The education should make students more productive, creative, ethical and engaged more to their societies as good citizens and leaders. Students should be able to contribute more to the intellectual, cultural, economic and social advancement of their own communities. Transformative learning is a holistic process that can place students at the center of their own active and reflective learning experiences. It fits within a constructivist paradigm where students construct knowledge through their experiences of the world. The 5th POD Network of Thailand Higher Education National Annual Conference (5th ThaiPOD-NC2010) will provide a national forum devoting to the transformative higher education teaching and learning and other related areas that are developed to create self-directed autonomous learners. The aim of this annual conference is to induce a radical shift from subject-oriented learning toward outcome-based learning in a wide spectrum of disciplines in higher education.
